Description:

The Somec Air is one of the most celebrated masterworks of Italian bicycle craftsmanship, hand-built in Lugo di Romagna by Oliviero Gallegati during the early 1980s. This rare build features Somec's iconic "Cromovelata" finish—a translucent, deep ruby-red lacquer applied over a fully polished chrome frame that creates an unmistakable liquid-metal glow. Engineered during the dawn of the aerodynamic revolution, it showcases avant-garde aero features, including top-mounted down-tube shifters and aerodynamic tube profiles. The bicycle is outfitted with a top-tier Campagnolo Super Record groupset, a Cinelli 1R stem paired with engraved Cinelli handlebars, vintage NISI Mercurio D'Oro tubular rims with fresh Vittoria Rally tires, and a classic Selle San Marco Concor Supercorsa Confort saddle. In a sought-after compact 49/50 cm geometry, this Somec Air represents the pinnacle of Italian custom frame-building and 1980s cycling design.

Condition:

Used. Fully overhauled and professionally serviced at the RSB workshop in Munich. The frame and fork are in excellent structural condition with no dents, cracks, or repairs. The delicate translucent Cromovelata finish has been remarkably well preserved, retaining brilliant depth and luster with only minor cosmetic signs of authentic use consistent with its age. Mechanically, the bike is in flawless condition, thoroughly checked, lubricated, and adjusted for crisp shifting and peak performance. Ready to ride.

About me

A few years ago I caught the cycling bug.
It all started when I wanted to sell my old everyday racer because I simply didn't like it anymore.
But when I realized that it only needed cosmetic surgery, my love for my work with bicycles began.

In the meantime, I have given a new life to several bikes and helped many enthusiasts to get a good bike.
