Shimano Dura-Ace EX RD-7200 Rear Derailleur in Original Box (NOS)
The Story
Introduced at the turn of the 1980s, the Shimano Dura-Ace EX 7200 series represented a major technological leap in professional road racing components. The centerpiece of the group, the RD-7200 rear derailleur, combined Shimano's patented double-servo pantograph geometry with the ingenious "Hatch-Plate Mechanism" (Hexagon Release)—allowing mechanics and riders to open the pulley cage with an Allen key and install or remove the rear derailleur without splitting the chain.
Stamped with the Shimano date code "GK" (November 1982), this specific RD-7200 is a true time-capsule collector's piece: New Old Stock (NOS) and complete in its original Shimano Dura-Ace EX box. It includes the factory-sealed hardware bag (containing the stainless steel cable housing loop, end caps, and the dedicated hex key), the original Dura-Ace EX prism sticker, and the fold-out service instruction sheet. An unrepeatable find for a museum-grade early-1980s road bike restoration.
