Shimano 600 EX MF-6208 6-Speed Multiple Freewheel (14–34T Alpine / Touring Ratio, NOS)
The Story
Introduced in the mid-1980s alongside Shimano's groundbreaking SIS (Shimano Index System) technology, the Shimano 600 EX MF-6208 multiple freewheel brought crisp, indexed shifting reliability and labyrinth-sealed bearing durability to the upper tier of road, touring, and early all-terrain bicycles. Featuring twisted New Uniglide tooth profiles, the MF-6208 engages chain links smoothly even under heavy pedaling load.
What makes this specific New Old Stock (NOS) piece an extraordinary collector's find is its ultra-wide 14–34T alpine progression (14-16-19-23-28-34T). Preserved in its original Shimano 600 EX retail box, this wide-range 6-speed freewheel is the ultimate period-correct solution for classic randonneur and touring builds, early 1980s ATB/MTB restorations, or L'Eroica riders conquering steep gravel climbs with a long-cage rear derailleur.
