Overview
The 1986 Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra crafted from legendary Columbus SLX tubing stands as one of the most iconic and victorious steel racing frames of the 1980s. Handbuilt in Meise, Belgium, and verified by its factory bottom bracket stampings (2XP / Z8057), this example features a vibrant metallic blue finish with the classic white Belgian-striped downtube panel and extensive mirror chrome on the fork and rear triangle. What elevates this machine to true collector tier is its seamless, period-correct 1986 Shimano Dura-Ace 7400 (6-speed SIS) groupset—including the rare hidden-bolt HS-7400 aero stem, the coveted SP-7400-B aero seatpost, HP-7400 headset, and Dura-Ace hubset. Paired with a black Selle San Marco Rolls saddle, dark anodized rims, and Schwalbe Lugano 2 skinwall tyres, it delivers an authentic 1980s pro-peloton aesthetic.
